89 Year Old Peace Activist goes to trial Oct 3
Audrey Tobias, an 89 year old peace activist will appear in court to fight charges that she refused to complete the 2011 Canada Census.
The trial is scheduled for 10:00am, Thursday October 3 2013, in the Old Toronto City Hall.
Tobias is determined to protest the Canadian government contracting out the development of the software and hardware for the Canada Census to the weapons of mass destruction manufacturer Lockheed Martin (Canada). She has stated that getting a jail sentence is irrelevant, and if they fine her, she will not pay.
Although we advocate minimum cooperation instead of outright refusal to complete the Census, we fully respect the principled position of Audrey Tobias, who served Canada in World War II in the Women's Royal Canadian Naval Service.
Supporters of Audrey Tobias are being urged to come out on October 3 and fill the courtroom. Thursday 3 October 2013, 10:00am, Old City Hall courtrooms, Toronto.
