Get ready for the multi-million dollar Census advertising spend-O-rama
Statistsics Canada has announced that it will unleash a multi-million dollar advertising barrage on Canadians, funded with our money, to at first persuade us, and later to threaten us to cooperate with the Census.
StatsCan has hired focus groups to explore the best way to "sell" the Census to us. The verdict? Initial advertising should be persuasive, not threatening. Only later advertising after Census day is to mention that the Census is compulsory. First the carrot, then the stick.
Census advertising, beginning in early May, will appear in newspapers, on posters, as inserts in municipal tax bills--even on packages of sugar and milk cartons! Statistics Canada predicts that every Canadian will be subjected to their propaganda at least 40 times.
Isn't it nice to know that our hard-earned tax dollars are being lavishly blown by our government to justify the further spending of our tax dollars on contracting out part of the Census to one of the biggest armaments manufacturers in the world--Lockheed Martin..
Ordinary Canadians have the unique opportunity to let Statistics Canada know precisely what they think of this propaganda spending boondoggle, simply by offering only MINUMUM COOPERATION with the May, 2011 Canada Census.
