Flourish Exhibition
This exhibition of still life paintings developed from looking at plants - at bulbs and how they grew, as well as the quietly monumental forms of the yield of plants - fruit. Even such small ingredients as a cardamom pod or a cinnamon stick have postures which can stand for human expressions. These paintings explore the intermingling of paint and representation, of surfaces and the physical qualities of the subjects, and especially the symbols that they embody.
