Mia was born in S.Martinho de Covelas, Porto, Portugal and from a tender age felt a great attraction for painting.

Leaving the small environment where she resided, moved to Lisbon continuing there her studies. Eventually becoming an employee of the City Hall of Lisbon.

After marrying, and with her husband, always searching for new horizons, in 1964 decided to immigrate to Canada, where they started a family, two sons and four grandsons.

Mia worked with success as Central Supplies Technician at the Scarborough General Hospital, and traveled a lot.

Mia always painted, and she continues to do so, with growing dedication and enthusiasm.

She has done innumerable art shows in Canada, Portugal and even Paris.

Mia belongs to several Portuguese clubs and associations and is very active in the Canadian artistic community were she is a member of the Pine Ridge Arts Council
