I am an experienced and highly adaptable Software Designer and Developer. I have a strong and varied background, including work in object-oriented desktop application development as well as embedded real-time control. I have been involved with all phases of development, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, testing and maintenance, including close client interaction at all phases. My most recent position was as a Software Specialist with xwave in Mississauga, where I contributed to such projects as xwave's Clinical Management System, the International Space Station, F-35 and F-16 fighter aircraft, and a mass spectrometry analysis system. I am familiar with development in Windows and UNIX / Linux, as well as custom-tailored hardware environments. I have worked under development methodologies certified to ISO 9001 and CMM Level 4. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Utah.
xwave, a Division of Bell Aliant, Mississauga, Ontario
Software Specialist III
At xwave I worked on custom engineering projects for a variety of clients.
Notable Projects:I worked on xwave's Clinical Management System.
I worked on updates to the Special Purpose Dexterous Manipulator, launched to the International Space Station in March 2008.
My duties included analyzing changes in the software requirements, and modifying existing test scripts or developing new scripts to test the control software for proper operation. I worked at MDA's site, using their engineering methodologies.
I worked on the development of the embedded software for the PTMS Controller. These controllers will provide power and environmental system control for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter aircraft.
My duties during the latter stages of this project include developing automated test cases for hardware-software integration. Prior to this, I was responsible for analyzing software requirements and designing, developing and debugging the embedded bootloader software for this controller. I worked at Honeywell's site, using their engineering methodologies. I was selected for this project based on my strong performance on the F-16 project.
Technical Experience:
I worked on the Primary and Secondary Environmental Digital System Controllers. These controllers will provide upgraded capability for the next generation of the F-16 fighter aircraft.
My duties included analyzing software requirements and designing, developing and debugging the embedded operational flight software for these environmental control systems. I worked at Honeywell's site, using their engineering methodologies.
Technical Experience:
I worked as the development team leader on this project. The requirement was to enhance the printing of information used by the Analyst® software for the purposes of automatically tuning parameters used by MDS Sciex's line of mass spectrometry products. Analyst® is constructed using a COM-based component architecture. The xwave team implemented and integrated a number of new components to gather and present the relevant information according to the customer specification.
Cedara Software Corp,
Mississauga, Ontario
Software Developer II, Applications Group
I was assigned to the team responsible for creating VR, Cedara's viewing and reading station product. VR runs in a Windows NT environment, and is the premier image display and analysis system in the healthcare industry. I also worked on a temporary assignment, working on custom engineering software under contract. This project required porting and extending an existing X/Motif application from UNIX to Windows NT using NuTCRACKER®.
I was responsible for the entire development process of software at the module level. This included module definition, requirements gathering and analysis, design, implementation, test plan, and defect fixing. For a time, I acted as the technical lead for a small group of developers. I was also responsible for supporting OEM customers at an engineering level with their software integration efforts.
