Our connection with the Cline family is through Elizabeth (Betsy) Cline who married Joshua Nunn.
Her father is said to have been Peter Cline who married Sarah Wagner a widow whose maiden name had been Scott. There was a stepson Abram Wagner who accompanied them to Canada. Most of our information is from grandchildren of Peter Cline and traditional. He is said to have come from Pennsylvania.
There is a reward of 282 acres of land being granted to Peter Cline July 28, 1773 in Northumberland County Pennsylvania, but it states he was from Philadelphia County. He deeded the land to Joseph Anthony August 22, 1774. It may be a coincidence that Joshua Nunn was enumerated in the 1790 census of Northumberland County, but there are two Peter Clines listed in that census, one in Northumberland County, the other in York County.
We find that a Peter Cline is listed on the rolls of the War of Revolution as a Sergeant, June 25, 1777 in Capt. Jacob Sinks Company, Second Class of Regiment of foot, in the service of the U.S. commanded by Col. Sharp Delany Esc. Philadelphia Militia.
Peter Cline appears also on the Muster rolls of the War of the Revolution as a Sergeant, August 19, 1778-1781 in 2nd Regiment Continental line.
Also as a Sergeant in Capt. Conrad Coon's Company 4th Battalion of Lancaster Company Militia, commanded by Colonel Zergler for year 1781. Whether all these services belong to one and the same man, and if this is our Peter Cline at this date (July 1950) I do not know.
When they moved to Canada is not known but early in 1800 lived in Lincoln County, township of South Clinton, we have from William Frederick Cline, born June 23, 1855 and his sister Margaret Matild Smith, born 1849, children of Frederick Cline born May 5, 1801 and his wife Olive (Nunn) Cline, daughter of Benjamin Nunn and wife Elizabeth Fretz, and grandchildren of Peter Cline information as follows:
Peter Cline and wife Sarah (Scott) Wagner, had the following children:
I have been unable to find any vital records for Peter Cline and wife.
But from the Archives Publiques Du Canada, Ottawa, 23 January, 1923. Search Ref. No. 5192. Peter Cline was a private in the 2nd regiment of Norfolk Militia, in November 1838, and was then on active service.
Also Abraham Wagner was a private in the first regiment of Lincoln Militia, in Capt. McEwen's flank company, stationed at Niagara, in July, 1812. On the 11th of that month he is given as belonging to Capt. Jacob A. Ball's flank company.

Dear Madam,
In reply to your letter of the 6th instant asking for information on certain members of the Lawrence family and others, I beg to say that I have been unable to find any reference to a Lawrence in the first Oxford regiment of Militia.
The only refrence I can find about Joshua Nunn is that he belonged to Capt. Philip House's company, Lincoln Militia, and that he is reported absent from the company in October 1813.
I have no reference either to Clement nor to Frederick Cline. Peter Cline was a private in the 2nd regiment of Norfolk Militia, in November 1838, and was then on active service.
Abraham Waggoner was a private in the first regiment of Lincoln Militia, in Capt. McEwen's flank company, stationed at Niagara in July, 1812. On the 11th of that month he is given as belonging to Capt. Jacob A. Ball's flank company.
Walpole is the name of a township in the county of Haldimand, Ontario.
