This work continues to investigate brief encounters of the virtual kind.
The pictures are evocative yet illusory. I think of them as ghosts, beings digitally collected and transformed into a film of paint on canvas. From blurred photos snapped on visits to public spaces, they are the physical memory of incidents.
These are paintings as mnemonic : visitations committed to pigment.

For me, they recall specific events ; they invite others to make a speculative connection.
Although gleaned from particular people, the shapes and colours are more important than the 'who'. There is an overlapping of figuration and abstraction.
I am using digital pics as subject material to create a painted response to a particular moment. It is a brief visit rather than a fabricated fiction; a conversation, with paint as the language.
They constitute a virtual visit by me (in the past) and a virtual visit with me (on exhibition). They denote virtual relationships : photography to painting, visitor to event, reality to representation, past to present.

These are "ghost" paintings.
The blurred territories speak of absence and become a testimonial to an evaporated event.
I have taken control of lost occasions with a brush - I have imposed speculation. The scenes are aroused from shapes that recall specific events but fail to author an explicit tale. The story is vague.
These apparitions are melting in their space and evolved from a transitory recollection. They are the physical memory of fluid incidents. They are views from the periphery - whispered reports - fugitive fables.

The Virtual Visitation is threefold : a visit by the artist, by the image and by the audience.
