Brantford Chess Club - Latest News!

Our club has just elected a new executive as of January 3/08. They are

President: Rob Gashgarian
Treasurer: Lee Hendon
TD: John Vlasov

We have determined the schedule of events for the remainder of 2008. These can be found through the events tab above. We are planning a few events to raise the club's community profile and to raise funds.

These will include:

1. In conjunction with the Harmony Square, the Brantford Chess Club will be offering chess activities beginning with the opening ceremonies June 7 & 8, 2008. We will update this space as details are confirmed and clearer, but for now we are planning a living chess game between Mayor Hancock and Kitchener Mayor Zehr, on that day.

2. Simultaneous Exhibition by current club champion Rob Gashgarian at the Lynden Park Mall on Saturday February 16^th and Saturday March 15^th 2008 Lynden Park Mall location
3. Canada Day booth at Brantford's Canada Day celebration at Cockshutt Park with games and club information Cockshutt Park location
4. Others (the club will be organizing summer events at the Harmony Square on some evenings and weekends.)

We are also in the process of finding an affordable site for occasional tournaments, both active and regular tournament formats. If any visitors know of a site available, for a reasonable cost; on weekends please email Rob Gashgarian.
