Here are a few links that you may find useful...
Google is a search engine used to search for
just about anything that you need. It could be
web pages, images, usenet newsgroup messages or even
Top Stories in the News.
This site is great if you need a map and/or driving directions from
just about anywhere to anywhere. Just give it your start and end
addresses and it will generate a map and then can even generate turn
by turn directions to your destination including an estimated time and
a travel distance. I use this one a lot.
This is another site that I use a lot at work. Give it a business or
personal name and location and it will find the telephone number. You
can even search within categories.
This is on Canada Post's site. Fill in the form on-screen and it will lookup the postal
code for you.
This site is very useful when you are looking for peoples opinions on different
products. If you're buying something like a new stereo, car, software etc.. then
you will likely find comments and product reviews from people who have bought
the same products. These are not professional reviews but can give you some insight before
you make your purchase.
If you have questions regarding cameras (digital or film) or just about anything
photography related, you will find good information (or links to other sources of
good information) on this site. There is a great beginners area with tutorials,
articles, how-to's and reviews for all things photography related.
A huge site that provides good articles on just about anything from childcare to
automotive to food and drink to home and garden and the list goes on and on. On this site
you can find good information on virtually anything you want to learn more about.
Similar to the Mapquest site except that it also allows you to see satellite images as well.
And the detail is quite good. At full zoom, you can see the individual houses and yards! Try
zooming in on Niagara Falls, it's pretty cool.
An unbelievable project where they have built an online encyclopedia where anyone (yes I said
ANYONE) can edit any of the pages. You could add new info or just correct grammar or punctuation
if you like. It keeps track of all the edits. Sounds like a recipe for chaos doesn't it. Well,
they've got over 500,000 articles in English alone, nevermind other languages as well. Take a look
just to use as a reference or register (free) and start making changes and contribute. A good example
of cooperation that works.
